How does a gate opener work?

Whereas the kilometres per hour are relevant for motor vehicles, centimetres per second are relevant for gate drives. The value varies between 10 cm/s and 20 cm/s. The former is among the slower and the latter among the faster. This depends mainly on the manufacturer and the model.

The indicated running speed is an average value for each door opener. This means that it could run a little faster or a little slower for you. The reason for this is that it depends on the factors mentioned above.
